Keukenhof only opens for about two months a year — the rest of the time, this is farmland. Every bulb is planted fresh each autumn specifically for this one short spring window.
Keukenhof plants roughly seven million flower bulbs every autumn, entirely by hand, for a display that lasts only about eight weeks each spring before the gardens close again for the rest of the year.
Spanning 32 hectares, Keukenhof is planted with tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and hundreds of other spring bulb varieties, arranged in themed displays that change layout every year.
Unlike most gardens, Keukenhof deliberately closes for roughly 10 months annually — the short season is part of the design, timed to catch peak bloom before bulbs are lifted for the next planting cycle.

Keukenhof's 78th edition runs daily, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, over 53 days. Time-slot entry is required and popular dates sell out — the Flower Parade weekend is typically the busiest single day of the season.
